Alex Mateas was one of 64 players named to the spring watch list for the Rimingtom Trophy, which is presented annually to the top center in the country.

Mateas, a redshirt senior, is the only returning offensive lineman to start every games during the 2013 season and had started 17 times in the two seasons since he transferred from Penn State.

He has been drawing praise from new UConn coach Bob Diaco for his play and leadership and would be near the top of the short list of players in contention to be named captains of the 2014 team.
