Another Pennsylvania product commits to UConn

The number of Pennsylvania high school stars to commit to UConn is up to five after defensive back Jalan Branford orally committed to play for the Huskies.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Branford becomes the 25th high school senior to commit to UConn. He is another one of the two-sport stars who opted to pick football.

Branford is in the midst of an impressive senior season with the Reading (Pa.) basketball team, scoring in double figures in 13 of 17 games to date. On the football field he was a first team Berks Football League Section 1 all-league selection as a defensive back as a senior. He also earned honorable mention AAA All-State honors from the Pennsylvania Football News. He had one game against Daniel Boone with a pair of touchdowns and two interceptions to lead Reading to one of its four victories.
