Xavier's Boyle commits to UConn

Xavier's Tim Boyle, who led the Falcons to three straight Class L titles, committed to UConn on Sunday.

Boyle originally committed to Boston College but with new coach Steve Addazio preferring a dual-threat QB he started to look around.

BC and Pitt were his other finalists.

Boyle was 143 for 240 passing for 2,488 yards with 21 touchdowns and eight interceptions as a senior. He also ran for 295 yards and five touchdowns to earn Register All-Area and All-State honors as well as being named the Connecticut High School Coaches Association state player of the year.

He threw for at least 300 yards in wins over North Haven and West Haven and ran for 116 games against Notre Dame of West Haven as a senior.

With former Masuk star Casey Cochran being a redshirt freshman for the upcoming season and UConn also getting a commitment from Plano (Tex.) High star Richard Lagow, UConn will have three talented freshmen to vie for the No. 2 quarterback spot or push incumbent Chandler Whitmer.
