Former UConn DL McBryde cut by Packers

I missed this from yesterday but the Green Bay Packers released former UConn defensive lineman B.J. McBryde.

McBryde was signed to the practice squad by the Packers on Nov. 18, 2015 although he did not appear in any regular-season games with the team.

McBryde was originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the Philadelphia Eagles aided by an impressive showing at UConn's pro day.

The good news is that a couple days later the San Francisco 49ers signed McBryde.

It's been a tough month or so for under the radar former UConn defensive linemen as Kenton Adeyemi was released by the Chicago Bears on June 17. Trumbull native Don Cherry was waived the same day as the Bears signed veteran tight end Tony Moeaki and defensive lineman Marquis Jackson.

As for the 2016 UConn team, an updated roster should be released soon since American Athletic Conference media day is set for Tuesday morning but UConn's site has updated its list of graduate assistants.

Nick Lezynski is the only returning graduate assistant - sort of. Chris DeBerry was a grad assistant during the 2015 season and is now listed as Coordinator of Internal Football Logistics (have to give head coach Bob Diaco credit for his job titles). Garrett Scott, Chris Salvi and Kyle Cooper are listed as grad assistants along with Lezynski on UConn's staff directory.
