Report: UConn to play at Yankee Stadium in 2014

A year ago there was some chatter about the possibility of the UConn football team playing a game at Fenway Park. As it turned out, the scuttlebutt wasn't too far from becoming a reality but it was just the wrong baseball stadium being suggested as a site for a Connecticut game.

The Times-Record Herald in Middletown, N.Y. is reporting that UConn and Army will play a game at Yankee Stadium next season.

UConn confirmed that it has signed a two-year contract to play Army beginning with the Nov. 8, 2014 game  The teams will play at Rentschler Field on Sept. 12, 2015.

The UConn game takes the slot on the Army non-conference schedule originally filled by Boston College. This should wrap up the non-conference schedule for UConn for the 2014 season as the Huskies will host Brigham Young on Aug. 28, Stony Brook on Sept. 6 and Boise State on Sept. 13.

Army is set to play two Connecticut teams in the 2014 season as the Black Knights have agreed to play at Yale in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Yale Bowl.
