Social media has changed the face of recruiting

One of the first things that struck me during the recently-completed recruiting cycle was how actively some of the headliners among the group of incoming freshmen were on Twitter.

I recall one time when quarterback Richard Lagow went as far as to ease any concerns the UConn fans might have of offensive lineman Kyle Schafenacker being convinced to flip from UConn to South Florida and as I saw other recruits bantering with each other and UConn fans over several months it was pretty evident how much times have changed. So over the last several weeks I have been working on a story on how social media sites like Twitter and Facebook have changed the world of recruiting.
