Familiar names making an impact in NFL

It was not a good day in the NFL for former UConn running backs as Donald Brown was knocked out of San Diego's 31-0 win over the New York Jets with a concussion and Jordan Todman exited the Jacksonville Jaguars' 17-9 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers with an ankle injury. However, I found it interesting that three running backs that the Huskies faced during last season's 0-9 start combined for 30 carries today.

Former University of Buffalo tailback Branden Oliver (who ran for 99 yards in last year's 41-12 win over UConn) was the player who was asked to fill in after Brown is the latest San Diego back to get injured. All he did was run for 114 yards and a score and add 68 yards and another touchdown on four receptions.

Terrance West, who ran for 156 yards and two touchdowns in Towson's season-opening win over UConn in 2013, ran seven times for 31 yards in the Cleveland Browns' 29-28 win over Tennessee while ex Central Florida tailback Storm Johnson had 27 yards for the Jaguars (one fewer than he had in UCF's blowout win over the Huskies).
