UConn to create memorial in honor of Jasper Howard

It's been in the works for quite some time but the UConn Foundation announced that it is accepting donations to erect a statue honoring the late Jasper Howard at Rentschler Field.

Howard, a standout defensive back, was killed in an on-campus altercation in 2009, and there's been a push spearheaded by UConn fan Lisa Lowry to have a memorial in Howard's honor. Many of the UConn products in the NFL who played with Howard have thrown their weight behind the movement.

Now the UConn Foundation has set up a "Jasper 'Jazz' Howard Statue Fund.
