Focus is back on football

If nothing else last week will go down as the most action-packed bye week in UConn football history.

It was a week ago yesterday that UConn pulled the plug on the Paul Pasqualoni experiment, firing the former Syracuse head coach and offensive line coach George DeLeone. Not much long after interim coach T.J. Weist announced that true freshman Tim Boyle will start on Saturday against South Florida.

A highlight of the week was getting the chance to talk to former NFL offensive lineman and college coach Bill Curry, Tennessee coach Butch Jones and Cincinnati receiver Anthony McClung for a story I did on Weist and how he got to the point where UConn handed control of the program over to him.

Today Weist will hold court with the media for the first time during a game week. Of course, he will be the second most popular person in the media's eyes today. That honor will go to Boyle, a member of three state championship teams at Xavier. I would venture to say he will be swarmed around today perhaps more than any UConn football player in recent memory.

Stay tuned, it will not be just another football Tuesday at UConn.
