Newsome solid on UConn; Fuchs leaves Milford Academy

Couple of quick recruiting notes.

I caught up with UConn commit Arkeel Newsome today to speak to him about his thoughts on the coaching shakeup and his commitment to the Huskies.

"I am still looking forward to being there," Newsome said.

He has already been at a couple of UConn home games and is planning to be there at the Louisville game on Nov. 8.

I'll have more from my interview with Newsome in the coming days.

Fellow UConn commit Jordan Fuchs is no longer at Milford Academy.

Fuchs, a 6-foot-6 tight end, played in the first three games and had 10 catches for 119 yards and one touchdown.

Fuchs was a full qualifier coming out of Christ the King and attended Milford Academy because he needed more experience playing the tight end position so he could still arrive at UConn even after withdrawing from Milford Academy. Milford Academy coach Bill Chaplick didn't want to speak for Fuchs and his commitment to UConn but he said his decision to leave happened when Paul Pasqualoni was still the Huskies' head coach.
