Phillips recognized by CFPA
Junior receiver Shakim Phillips was one of nine receivers to earn honorable mention recognition in the weekly College Football Performance Awards.
Phillips had 10 catches for 178 yards including a 75-yard touchdown giving him 15 catches for 255 yards and three TDs in the first two games.
Phillips' 178 receiving yards are the most for a Husky since UConn became a FBS program and ranks ninth in program history. The bad news is that Phillips pulled up at the end of the touchdown catch and suffered a hamstring injury. His status for Saturday's game against Michigan is not known at the current time.
Mike Evans of Texas A&M was the CFPA's Receiver of the Week after catching seven passes for 279 yards in a 49-42 loss to top-ranked Alabama.
