Report: Anthony Sherman traded to Kansas City

Shortly after Bruce Arians was named the new head coach of the Arizona Cardinals he began to let it be known that the fullback position was not a high priority in the offense he was planning to install. That was not good news for former UConn fullback Anthony Sherman.

What happened next was rather predictable as Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star is reporting that Sherman was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Sherman, selected by Arizona in the fifth round in the 2011 draft, appeared in 28 games over the last two seasons with the Cardinals. He had one carry for three yards in a win over Seattle on Jan. 1, 2012 and caught 13 passes for 111 yards. His biggest impact, however, came on special teams as he was named the Cardinals' special teams captain and he had 16 tackles in his two seasons.

Reports are that cornerback Javier Arenas was acquired in return for Sherman.
