Report: Former UConn assistant looked at by Bears

According to a report in the Chicago Sun-Times, former UConn assistant coach Darrell Bevell will be interviewed by the Chicago Bears for their head coaching job.

Bevell is a former quarterback at Wisconsin who coached at UConn in 1998 and 1999 before heading to coach in the NFL. Bevell spent six seasons with the Green Bay Packers before being hired as the offensive coordinator by the Minnesota Vikings in 2006. In 2011 he was appointed to the same position by the Seattle Seahawks.

There have also been multiple reports that former UConn linebacker John Dorsey is the leading candidate to be named the general manager with the Kansas City Chiefs. Dorsey is currently the director of college scouting for the Green Bay Packers, the team he played for from 1984-88.

Staying on the subject of the NFL, former UConn DB Darius Butler had four tackles but the Indianapolis Colts lost to Baltimore 24-9 in the first round of the playoffs. Two former Huskies will be in action on Sunday Jan. 13. At 1 p.m., DB Robert McClain and the Atlanta Falcons host Seattle. That will be followed by OG Daniel Thomas and New England hosting Houston at 4:30 p.m.
