2007 schedule released

2007 UCONN FOOTBALL SCHEDULE

Sept. 1: at Duke (0-12), Wallace Wade Stadium, Durham, N.C. -- UConn leads series 1-0 -- Comment: Duke and Florida Int’l were the only two Division I-A teams to go winless last season

Sept. 8: Maine (6-5), Rentschler Field, East Hartford, Conn. -- UConn leads series 38-31-3 -- Comment: Old Yankee Conference rivals play for the first time since 1999 in Orono

Sept. 15: Temple (1-11), Rentschler Field, East Hartford, Conn. -- Series tied 1-1 --
Comment: First of a four-game contract between the schools, UConn plays at Temple in 2008

Sept. 22: at Pittsburgh (6-6), Heinz Field, Pittsburgh, Penn. -- UConn leads series 2-1 --
Comment: Home team has been victorious in all three meetings, including 46-45 double overtime thriller in November

Sept. 29: Akron (5-7), Rentschler Field, East Hartford, Conn. -- UConn leads series 1-0 -- Comment: Huskies are 10-1 all-time against Mid-American Conference opponents, including eight straight

Oct. 13: at Virginia (5-7), Scott Stadium, Charlottesville, Va. -- First meeting --
Comment: Cavaliers, under coach Al Groh, loses only four seniors from a team that was 4-2 on its home field

Oct. 19: Louisville (12-1), Rentschler Field, East Hartford, Conn. -- Louisville leads series 3-0 -- Comment: Good news: coach Bobby Petrino left Orange Bowl champs for Atlanta Falcons. Bad news: QB Brian Brohm is back. On a side note, good luck with Michael Vick, coach.

Oct. 27: South Florida (9-4), Rentschler Field, East Hartford, Conn. -- South Florida leads series 2-1 -- Comment: Freshman QB Matt Grothe ranked 17th nationally in total offense last fall

Nov. 3: Rutgers (11-2), Rentschler Field, East Hartford, Conn. -- UConn leads series 3-2 -- Comment: Rutgers’ revival saw it win first bowl game (Texas Bowl). Close games have been the norm in this natural rivalry.

Nov. 10: at Cincinnati (8-5), Nippert Stadium, Cincinnati, Ohio -- Cincinnati leads series 3-0 --
Comment: Bearcats, the International Bowl champs, rallied from a late 7-point deficit to win at Rentschler last fall.

Nov. 17: Syracuse (4-8), Rentschler Field, East Hartford, Conn. -- Syracuse leads series 2-1 -- Comment: Huskies won only meeting against ‘Cuse played at Rentschler Field, a 26-7 decision in 2005.

Nov. 24: at West Virginia (11-2), Mountaineers Stadium, Morgantown, W.Va. -- WVU leads series 3-0 -- Comment: QB Pat White and RB Steve Slaton, two Heisman Trophy candidates, return to WVU.
